Scotland, Village by Sea, Scottish Island Skye 23.5×23.5, Original Oil Portree. Originally a graphic designer, I was drawn to oil painting because of the expressive qualities I can create. Communicating my feelings of joy, happiness and sadness through paint is my goal. What is going on in the World around us is important to me. The meditative feel of moving paint around a canvas and the therapeutic application of color is what I crave. I’m drawn to impressionist painting, inspired by Post Impressionism. Van Gogh, Renoir, & Lucian Freud are inspirations. Showing the viewer part of the story and letting them form their own impression is my goal. I intend to infuse humor, story telling, abstract and detail elements in my paintings. Vintage original oil on canvas painting “Jones Island” signed Pierre Henri Matisse. Painting m easures approx. 16″ x 20″ and includes a Certificate of Authenticity and a signed promotional brochure for the artist’s newly released book- The Missing Matisse: A Memoir. This amazing piece is from a series of Florida landscape paintings created in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s by Pierre H. Matisse, grandson of the infamous Henri Matisse. As a child in France, Pierre trained under his grandfather and grew up among some of the most famous artists in history, including Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali. Pierre relocated to the United States in the 1960’s and currently lives in Florida. I had the pleasure of meeting Pierre on a couple of different occasions. The artist confirmed that this painting is indeed 100% genuine and supplied me with the COA and brochure that are included with the painting. Painting is in good condition, colors are bright, no tears on canvas, some scuffs and scratches on frame.
