Description – Lovely oil on canvas painting depicting a young girl tending to a rafter of turkeys by Jacques Salmon. It is signed and dated in the lower right corner and set in a decorative gold gilt frame. What can be seen of the painting measures approximately 15 + 14 inches high by 12 + 1/8 inches wide. The frame measures approximately 12 + 1/4 inches by 20 + 1/8 inches by 2 + 1/4 inches deep. Condition – Age appropriate with craquelure to the paint surface, we are unable to see the back of the painting, however it appears to have been relined on board, see all photos for complete assessment. Dreamy oil on canvas of nymphs drinking wine and frolicking in the forest, attributed to Jacques Antoine Vallin, 18th century. There is no apparent signature on the painting that we can see, just the attribution plaque which has been mounted onto the frame at some point. Condition is good despite obvious craquelure and fading in areas where we can see the fibers of the canvas through the paint. We have photographed a couple of small nicks to the frame. One has to be up very close to see these signs of wear; from a distance, the overall effect is magical, especially with that heavenly lighting shining down through the trees. Measures 20 x 17 inches. As the items that we sell are often fragile and irreplaceable, great care is taken during packaging to ensure their safe transit and arrival. Items must be in the same condition as when received.
