He was trained as a traditional sandpainter and later attended the University of Northern Arizona. Nez was profiled in the November 1994 issue of Southwest Art magazine. He has exhibited and won awards in numerous shows in the Southwest, including at the Santa Fe Indian Market and at the Museum of Northern Arizona.
