From my personal collection. I have owned this for over 50 years, from a non-smoking home and kept away from sunlight. The gilt wood carving is absolutely beautiful, with flowers on the top and beautiful scroll work up and down on the pedestals. It has decorated pinecones on each side as a finial. On the top of each side. Areas of inpainting to gilding, minimal cracks and joint separations, age and wear as expected. I would like this to be professionally wrapped and then sent UPS ground was plenty of bubble and popcorn and a very hard cardboard box that way I know I’ll get to you safely I also want to fully insure this piece. The surrounding wood, around the oval painting is in very good condition I can’t see any breaks or cracks, I believe it’s called Fret work, and usually gets broken in many places but I can’t see any damage at all. The embroidery stitching around the oval painting on the back does have a few stitches missing here in there and some are a little tiny loose but still very good, wanted to mention. Please look at the picture carefully us as part of the description. It stands approximately 45 inches tall and 24 inches wide with the base feet being 17 inches across. The oval frame is approximately 18 x 24. This is French and it’s from the 1840’s to the 1860’s. For its age it is excellent condition, I have shown on the top back how there are a few hairlines but I have to believe thus is just from age, and there isn’t any significant damage. Beautiful Midcentury Vintage 1950s/60s Antonio DeVity Original Oil Painting – Paris City Street Scene. This gorgeous oil paintings measures approximately 8×10 for the canvas and the frame extends the paintings to approximately 10″x14″. Gorgeous solid wood carved French wood with gilt gold highlights. Antonio De Vity was born in Reggio-Calbria in southern Italy. He lived in Naples and later moved to Rome where he was taught by Giacomo Balla, creator of futurism. He also lived and worked in Paris where he studied under Antoine Blanchard. He opened an art studio in Naples in 1950 which also became a meeting place for Neapolitan artists. He had Exhibitions in Brussels, Marrakesh, Madrid, Paris and other cities. His grandmother was originally from Paris. DeVity loved Paris and many of his popular scenes are of the Moulin Rouge, Notre Dame and le Cafe de la Paix. Antonio was educated at the Naples Art Lyceum and L’ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. DeVity’s works have won international awards and he is recognized for his bright colors and impressionist treatment of the streets and waterways of Paris and Venice. This is a sublime antique French folding wooden screen. It has 2 canvas panels each delightfully hand painted with cherubs. The wooden frame of the screen is painted in a beautiful soft baby blue , now perfectly distressed with the passage of time. It is the two panels with the cherubs however, that absorb our attention. They have been hand painted in oil on canvas. On the right hand panel two cute winged cherubs frollick and play with a beautiful rose garland and on the left hand side, two gorgeous doves hover above our two little cuties. The colours in the painting are absolutely sublime. Soft pinks and greens with a touch of pale blue form the dreamy palette. The screen ins in good antique condition. It stands on 4 feet and is sturdy. It probably once had glass at the top but this has now long gone. There is one small repair to the canvas on the panel on the right hand side as one looks at it but this is not visible from the front. The screen measures 113.5 cm (44.5 inches) high x 72.5 cms (28.5 inches) wide when open and 36.5 cms (14.5 inches) when closed.
