DESCRIPTION / CONDITION / PROVENANCE. This is a stunning!! (pictures do not do this piece justice) antique oil painting on canvas, probably dates around the 1780’s-90’s could be slightly earlier, European portrait of a upper class gentleman. We examined the piece for a signature, and could not seem to locate one, paint has darkened over the years, so it’s hard to see. The condition of the painting is very nice for it’s age, no major damage that we can see, was well taken care of. Painting is tightly stretched, possibly re-lined, and has a nice thick coat of varnish. This is another piece we acquired from a friend of ours, who has an amazing private collection of art and antiques and sometimes sales a few of his pieces once in a while, this piece being one of them, and a few others too be listed soon.
