Dreamy oil on canvas of nymphs drinking wine and frolicking in the forest, attributed to Jacques Antoine Vallin, 18th century. There is no apparent signature on the painting that we can see, just the attribution plaque which has been mounted onto the frame at some point. Condition is good despite obvious craquelure and fading in areas where we can see the fibers of the canvas through the paint. We have photographed a couple of small nicks to the frame. One has to be up very close to see these signs of wear; from a distance, the overall effect is magical, especially with that heavenly lighting shining down through the trees. Measures 20 x 17 inches.
