Vintage Swedish Abstract Painting. A wonderfully atmospheric painting with quite a depth to it. Helped by the artists use of texture in their paint application. Signed and dated to the bottom of the painting and labeled on the back. The silvered wooden frame has some scuffs as shown in the photos, the painting is in very good condition no damage some craquelure. Sweden 1962/63, Signed Oil on canvas. He was a Swedish painter. His brother was the author Axel Lundegård. Lundegård grew up in Hörby and studied under Edvard Perséus from 1878 and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm 188084 and then in Munich and from 1891 in Paris and the Breton coastal resort of Le Pouldu, where he switched to an impressionistic style. He painted marine paintings, interiors and landscapes from Norway, Upper Bavaria and Italy. Lundegård is buried at Norra cemetery in Lund. Igned and dated lower left by the artist, Lundegard 95. It’s a great atmospheric landscape that is very well executed with high level of artistic skills. The painting itself is measuring about 23 3/4 (60 cm) by 31 1/2 (80 cm), and the frame is measuring 30 1/2 (77 cm) by 38 1/2 (98 cm). It is signed by the artist in the lower right corner. This painting would be a very sound investment and a great addition to any collection. His talent was evident by the age of 1o, but it was only after years in the service in the army that Holmstedt received artistic education. He lived and worked for most of his life in Berlin-Wilmdersdorf and spent his summers in Balestrand, as is reflected in his work. Please note that most of the items we sell are vintage or antique, and therefore they have some imperfections due to age, wear, etc. Anything I consider significant I would mention in the description.
