This listing is for the Exceptional Antique 19th C. French Parisian Academic Nude Male Painting pictured above. A beautiful circa 1885 French School nude male portrait. This exceptional work depicts a nude man with a beard and mustache standing with his legs together and arms crossed. He wears cloth underwear. The artist set the man against a loosely painted brown oval background. The work is likely by the hand of an artist working in Paris in the 1880s, and the subject was likely a model for a group of artists at a studio. The back of the canvas is stamped with the canvas supplier – Jordany Aube. This stamp was used by the supplier exclusively between 1883 and 1889. The work is an oil on canvas and appears unsigned. 24 inches tall by 18 inches wide (painting). 30.25 inches tall by 24.75 inches wide (frame). Condition : Good overall antique condition. Scattered inpainting (refer to photo under blacklight). Some losses to the frame along with typical wear/scratches. It is ready to be displayed and enjoyed! Antique, late 19th to very early 20th century oil painting on canvas of a flock of sheep grazing in overall good condition, unsigned. As you can see from the images the painting has two small, thin scratches to the canvas which are not complete tears and are backed on the reverse side of the canvas (painting was acquired like this). Painting likewise shows some darkening from age. In the images taken without flash there appear to be some digitized “blue streaks”, this is a distortion of my camera and not in the actual painting. Painting is an an antique, double frame which shows wear and dusting and has a cord and is ready for hanging. Entire piece including the frame measures approximately 17 3/4 x 14 3/4 inches.
