The painting is in its beautiful period antique gold original frame with aged vintage linen inner border liner. Only damage is a small tear approx. 1.5 in the canvas in the lower right side of painting which was professionally repaired, does not detract from the beauty of this vintage painting and naturally blends in with the waves. Well executed, by a Davenport listed Anglo-Canadian artist. Notes: Frederick Falkner is a collected and listed artist. Here are links in reference to his status as a known artist. Falkner was born in Bath, Somerset, England. He was ex British Military. Came to Sault Sainte Marie, Ontario, Canada in 1863. There are about a half dozen of his landscapes at the Sault Sainte Marie, Ontario Museum and one at the Algoma Art Gallery. He married a Martha Cousins in 1871 and had nine children.
