This listing is for a 19th c. Antique American Oil Portrait of a Young Lady, wearing a high white lace collar with a small mourning hair brooch. She is dressed in black and by the age of the painting and style of clothing, has probably lost her husband during the civil war. She looks very young. She also has hoop gold earrings. I feel the painting is well done. Check out all the photos to understand condition. There is some crackeleture throughout, and I think one spot that has a flake missing. I do not have a black light to test for any repairs. The canvas is a bit rippled as it’s not stretched. The canvas is cut and is slipping in the frame. There is a piece of cardboard holding it in place in the back of the piece. The frame, while it may be original, appears to be painted over in black leaving a gilt edge It is a deep frame, approx. The black complements the painting but could use some restoration, as gold is showing through. The opening is approx. 13 1/8″ tall by 11 1/8″ wide. The frame is 17″ x 15″. A really nice size for the portrait collector. Please ask questions as all sales are final. From a smoke free, pet free home. The item “19th c.
