This process simply requires that some metal hardware framing brackets be screwed or drilled into the frame. Again, the hardware is commonly found at a hobby, craft, or hardware store. Step Four: Adding Hanging Hardware. This is the easiest step. Simply attach the hanging hardware to the back using a tape measure for centering accuracy. Handing hardware is easily found at all retail stores with a hardware department. Now simply enjoy your beautiful framed painting. You will want to do many more as gifts, we promise. Oil Painting of St. Bavo Church by Carl W. Houbein Description and Item Information Up for sale is this vintage, framed oil on canvas painting by the listed artist, Carl Houbein. Please excuse any glare in the photos. This architectural painting depicts the interior of the St. Bavokerk also known as Grote Kerk or St. Bavo church in Haarlem, The Netherlands. The canvas measures approximately 27 5/8 inches by 19 1/2 inches. The painting is housed in a mottled, gold-finished wooden frame which is newer than the painting. The exterior frame measurements are about 29 7/8 inches by 21 15/16 inches. Unpacked, this weighs a bit over 3 3/4 pounds. This post-war painting would make a wonderful addition to a collection of religious or architectural-themed fine art. Identification This painting is by the listed artist, Carl Weibren Houbein (1915 – 2001). Per askART, the artist was born in Holland as Gerlof Wiebren Houbein, and he later changed his first name to Carl. He moved to Australia or New Zealand around 1953, and relocated to southern California in 1960. Houbein passed away in Los Angeles. Verso, there is writing on the stretchers, as shown, including the date, “15 August 1947″ and the artist’s name, G. The following is also written on the stretcher, “Ge Houbein Haarlem’47” and “Kl Heiligland 48, ” which is an address located in Haarlem; this may have been the artist’s home. Condition The painting looks good overall. The canvas has some rippling, particularly to the lower left, as found. The frame has light wear, but it looks very good overall; the back of the frame has sticky areas, probably from having a paper backing affixed at one time. There is a crossbar connecting the stretchers verso, as found. Please review the photos, and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing. Terms of Sale 1.
