DESCRIPTION / CONDITION / PROVENANCE. This is a stunning!! (pictures do not do this piece justice) antique oil painting on canvas, probably dates around the 1780’s-90’s could be slightly earlier, European portrait of a upper class gentleman. We examined the piece for a signature, and could not seem to locate one, paint has darkened over the years, so it’s hard to see. The condition of the painting is very nice for it’s age, no major damage that we can see, was well taken care of. Painting is tightly stretched, possibly re-lined, and has a nice thick coat of varnish. This is another piece we acquired from a friend of ours, who has an amazing private collection of art and antiques and sometimes sales a few of his pieces once in a while, this piece being one of them, and a few others too be listed soon. This antique oil on canvas painting depicting a nautical scene with a sailboat and windmill. A small house or mill appears to the left of the picture, and 3 windmills are in the background. This very serene painting, is in good condition with no holes, tears, repairs, or stains. It does have a very tiny pock mark directly to the left of the middle windmill, as shown in the close-up photographs. The artist has signed the work in the lower left corner. The gold painted frame is in very good condition as well. The frame is 14 1/2″ by 11 1/4″. The reveal 11 1/2″ by 8 1/4″.
