I was told the sitter was a wealthy Southern woman from the Antebellum period, but I dont know how to verify this. Overall in good condition and presents nicely. It has been restored in the past: cleaned, relined, re-varnished, housed in a contemporary frame. There are scattered spots of in painting mainly to fave and hands, as well as scattered areas of small paint loss/wear. 43.75″ x 35.5″ framed.
