This listing is for the Huge Antique 18th C. Portrait of a Noble Lady in a Courtyard pictured above. A beautiful, stately English School portrait of a noble lady in a courtyard, dating to the first half of the 18th century. This wonderful portrait depicts a young lady in an elaborate, vivid red dress with white lace accents. She carefully holds up her dress in her left hand and gestures with her right. She stands in an open courtyard with a short staircase visible in the background, which also includes numerous clusters of trees. The work is an oil on canvas and appears to be unsigned. It is housed in a wood frame. There is an older label from the 20th century on the reverse that is inscribed Mrs Bardsley, which may refer to either the sitter or a previous owner. Brown and Merry – Tring, UK (1994). Private Collection – PA. 47.5 inches tall by 39.875 inches wide (painting). 50.75 inches tall by 43.5 inches wide (frame). Condition : Good overall antique condition. Professionally conserved and relined on new stretcher. Scattered minor surface abrasions. Inpainting is difficult to detect under uv light (Ive included a photo of her face under uv light for reference). Scattered wear and losses to the frame. It is ready to be displayed and enjoyed!
