Beautiful Midcentury Vintage 1950s/60s Antonio DeVity Original Oil Painting – Paris City Street Scene. This gorgeous oil paintings measures approximately 8×10 for the canvas and the frame extends the paintings to approximately 10″x14″. Gorgeous solid wood carved French wood with gilt gold highlights. Antonio De Vity was born in Reggio-Calbria in southern Italy. He lived in Naples and later moved to Rome where he was taught by Giacomo Balla, creator of futurism. He also lived and worked in Paris where he studied under Antoine Blanchard. He opened an art studio in Naples in 1950 which also became a meeting place for Neapolitan artists. He had Exhibitions in Brussels, Marrakesh, Madrid, Paris and other cities. His grandmother was originally from Paris. DeVity loved Paris and many of his popular scenes are of the Moulin Rouge, Notre Dame and le Cafe de la Paix. Antonio was educated at the Naples Art Lyceum and L’ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. DeVity’s works have won international awards and he is recognized for his bright colors and impressionist treatment of the streets and waterways of Paris and Venice. Update the third picture has been recently added, it depicts through a thick cloud upper center of the painting a light blue streak in color. This is very hard to notice and is original by the artist, either he reused the canvas or originally was going to paint using the color blue but changed his mind. This is not damage nothing at all has changed from when this post was first posted the painting is as shown beautiful for its age. Once again the blue streak has been covered with thick white paint which made up the clouds upper we just wanted to make sure this was stated.
