    Scandinavian winter village Measurements : 26 x 19 inches without the frame. 31 x 24 inches with the frame. Description: Oil on canvas, glued on board. Signed with the artist monogram to the lower right. Beautiful detailed painted and filled with atmosphere. The oil is framed in its authentic 20th century golden salon frame. A certificate of authenticity will be included with this work. Condition: Ready to hang. The oil could use a light cleaning, due to the age. Otherwise fine with no holes, tears or missing paint. The original golden salon frame has minor scratches due to the age. Large Scandinavian winter village. Measurements : 26 x 19 inches without the frame. Educated at the Royal art academy in 1907. He worked and traveled in Paris and southern France during the 1920s and toured Italy and Germany. He won the prestigious Royal Academy gold medallion in 1918 and 1922. Sorensen is best known for his series of landscapes and city views from his many travels. From 1915, he resided on the Island of Bornholm. Born in Bridgeport, Ohio, Joseph Sharp was regarded as the “father of the Taos Art Colony, ” and was known for his Indian figure and genre painting as well as for exquisitely colorful landscapes. He was one of the first Caucasian artists to visit New Mexico, arriving in Santa Fe in 1883. Although Sharp was completely deaf from a childhood accident, he reportedly had a cheerful nature and was an avid traveler, always seeking learning experiences about other cultures.
