Serbaroli studied art in Rome with Maccari and at the Institute de San Michele with A. Upon winning a painting competition in 1900, he was awarded a commission in Mexico City to decorate the Teatro Nacional (now Bellas Artes). He remained there until the revolution made it impossible to work as an artist. Upon moving to California in 1913, he settled in San Rafael and for several years taught art there at the Mount Tamalpais Military Academy (now the Marin Academy). He worked on commissions for the PPIE and contributed a huge panorama of Mount Tamalpais to the exposition which later hung for many years in the Ferry Building.
